Terms of Business

Availability:  Some of our cheeses come from small producers, and from time to time we may have trouble getting a particular item. This doesn't happen very often, but if necessary we may need to make a substitution, in which case we'll try to provide something similar.  Let us know when ordering if a substitution is unacceptable.

Weights:  We make every effort to cut the cheese accurately but as two cheeses from the same producer made just weeks apart can vary in density it is difficult to be exact.  What we can say is that if we go 'under' on one cheese we'll try to make up for it on the next. Whole cheeses may be approximate in weight (since this is a handmade product), so a 'whole wheel or 'whole truckle' described as 3kg might turn out to be more, or less, than that.  To allow for this we have deducted either 5% or 10% from the price of the half or whole cheese so that you are not disadvantaged.

Delivery:  We will try to send your cheese out the day after we receive the order.  However, sometimes we may have to wait for a couple of days for a particular item to complete your order.  You will be notified by email when it is dispatched.  It is good practice to have someone at the delivery address but since the date of dispatch may be delayed, it would often be prudent to have it delivered to your place of work.  Whichever you choose, an accurate delivery address, including postcode is essential.  In the event that an incorrect postal address is supplied, we can't be held responsible for any delivery problems which may follow.  We also can't be responsible if a delivery is held up because there's no-one in.  This requires particular thought if the order is a surprise present.  Once the cheese leaves us it's via a 'next day' delivery service but please note that we only dispatch goods on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.  Again, this is good for those wishing to receive their orders at work.  If instructions are left for the courier - 'leave in porch', 'leave at No 4' etc - please ensure that these are simple, clear and brief. And remember that if the package is left, then this is at your own risk.

Minimum Orders:  Our minimum order is £30.00 plus postage and packing and this increases in December.

Prices:  We reserve to charge the price current at time of delivery for advance orders.

Packing and Postage:  This is subsidised at £6.00 per address and up to 25kg is allowable.  This would be enough cheese for a most cheese wedding cakes.  As always, Highlands and Islands have special rates.  Contact us and we'll get back to you with the current rates for the size of your order.

Payments:  When you are asked to pay you will be taken to a secure site for that then back to us.

Privacy:  We will under no circumstances (other than those enforceable under the Data Protection Act) pass any details of any of our customers to a third party.

Returns:  We make every effort to get your cheese to you in good condition.  However, should you find that your order is not in a satisfactory condition, or has been damaged in transit; we will need you to notify us within 24 hours. We may also require you to send the cheese back to us or that you email a photo of the damaged goods to us.

Cancellation of Order:  The Cheeseboard reserve the right not to accept or to cancel once accepted any order, without penalty. The customer may cancel an order without penalty only before we have processed it.

Title:  All rights of ownership and to possession of the goods supplied shall remain in and belong to The Cheeseboard until full payment has been received for the goods.

Risk:  Risk of damage or deterioration to the goods supplied passes to the buyer on delivery. No claim for damage or deterioration after delivery can be accepted.
